My company have just purchased some new estimating software and it is really good. It is so much better than the stuff that we used to use and I am sure that it will make us become much more efficient and be able to do our jobs more efficiently. I am hoping that it will anyway because we always seem to be snowed under at the moment and I have been working overtime for last few months because there just are not enough people to do all of the work and if it doesn’t get done the company will lose money and we may lose our jobs. Unfortunately I do not get paid overtime and my wife is getting rather annoyed with it. Therefore I hope that the takeoff software will be able to speed up everyone’s jobs and that will stop the need for all of the overtime. I guess things will slow up a bit to star with when the training is happening and everyone is getting used to the new software but if it is a good system then it should be easy to use and therefore that stage will be over quickly.
